Washing and Care Instructions:
Wash your Rag Pads prior to your first use using a non-bleach, gentle laundry soap.  Line dry or tumble dry on the lowest heat setting.  They will last longer if you line dry them.

After using your pads for the first time, simply rinse as much blood from each pad and let it soak in a gallon size bucket filled with about 12 cups of water and 1 tsp of baking soda.  When you have a day or two days of soaked pads, then either hand wash or machine wash them in a cold or warm cycle using a small amount of your favorite laundry detergent. Line dry or tumble dry on the low heat setting. Do not use fabric softener. It will coat the pads and make them water repellent and reduce their absorbency.  Note: if you use dryer sheets in your dryer for other laundry this can coat your dryer and transfer to your pads. Do not use bleach. This will cause the fabric's fibers to break down. It will also cause the waterproof layer of the pad to de-laminate. Should staining occur, try laying your pads out in the sun, or use an oxygen-based bleach.

Using Rag Pads:  Snap the pad using the adjustable snaps around your panties so the flannel side is facing up towards your skin and the smooth laminate side is facing towards your panties.  Change the pad as needed or every 2-6 hours.

When you are away from home, fold the used pad up and snap and place in a ziplog bag or in our Rag Bag  until you can wash your pads.  Rag pads should not be shared with others. Tip: Soaking your used pad immediately in a bucket of water will reduce staining if you are not able to wash it immediately after each use.

How Many Pads for Use?  We recommend using an assortment of sizes for the variation of flow.  Having between 6-9 pantiliners/regular size pads and 3-6 heavy and overnight pads, depending on how long your period lasts works best for most.
